Customer Requirements
Faced with rapid growth on Perth’s southern suburban corridor, the Government of Western Australia’s Public Transport Authority (PTA) recognised the need to significantly expand the city’s rail transport infrastructure. By 2010, daily passenger trips on the urban rail network are expected to grow by 68 per cent. The Southern Suburbs Railway, part of the PTA's $1.4 billion New MetroRail Project, will effectively double Perth’s rail network and provide a vital transport link for suburban and outlying communities between the city centre and Mandurah. One of the challenges of the project was to engineer and supply the overhead contact lines and traction power for the Southern Suburbs Railway.
Solution
We will design, manufacture, install and test the Traction Power Supply system from Perth City to Mandurah, including the Mandurah Railcar Depot. The Traction Power Supply feeds electricity to the overhead line system and we have tailored the system to the rail system's design and specifications.
Benefits
Our solutions enabled:
- Expansion of Perth’s rail transport infrastructure
- A vital link to be created between the city centre and Mandura
