Customer Requirements
The challenge for Kangan Batman TAFE's new Automotive Centre for Excellence building was to produce a landmark structure that delivered excellence in learning space, sustainability measures and occupancy comfort within budget constraints. Siemens needed to deliver a functional and efficient control system for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning of the building that would rate five stars in the Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR) system.
Solution
We worked with Kangan Batman to deliver the Siemens Building Management System, which ensures that the temperature and humidity of the indoor environment is always comfortable for the occupants by controlling the heating, cooling and humidity with optimal energy efficiency. The energy savings systems in the building include heated and cooled slabs, a "Natural Ventilation" system and "Night Sky Cooling" spray systems, all of which assist in the efficient heating and cooling of the building.

- A 68% reduction in energy demand for ventilation and air conditioning
- Greenhouse gas savings equivalent to saving 65 trees (44 tonnes of CO2) per annum
