Customer Requirements
Powerlink required existing SVCs at the Nebo site to be refurbished to stabilise power in the rail system. The contract also involved the refurbishment of nine SVC sites owned by Queensland Rail, but operated by Powerlink.
Solution
Our solution was to refurbish existing SVCs and manufacture, supply, deliver and install SVC thyristor valves, valve cooling, and protection and control system. To avoid disruption of the energised system and train operation, our solution involved the installation and operation of a mobile SVC system during the refurbishment. The 48-hour cut-in period and 48-hour cut-out period for the mobile SVC resulted in minimum downtime for each substation.
Benefits
- Refurbished existing SVCs
- Stabilised power in the rail system
- Achieved the installation with minimum downtime to the system
