Customer Requirements
Muja Power Station has been generating electricity for the state of Western Australia since April 1966. Muja's owner, Verve Energy, required the power station to be refurbished in order to overhaul its technology and extend its operating lifetime. The challenge for Siemens was to replace the entire control system at Muja with a system that controlled all power plant automation tasks while integrating with the existing IT technology of the station and other third party systems
Solution
We supplied a fully integrated digital control system to perform all power plant automation tasks, which include turbine control, boiler control including boiler protection, balance of plant and integration of third party systems. The refurbishment of the plant will significantly extend the operating life of the power station for a further 25 years and ensure the plant operates at best efficiency.
