Siemens will launch its latest innovation in mobility safety and productivity solutions, the ZP D 43 Electronic Wheel Detection Equipment for rail networks at this year’s AusRail Conference, to be held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre from 1st – 2nd December.
A refinement on the tried and tested ZP 43, the ZP D 43 is a vital component of axle counting systems, supplying reliable information about the state of the track vacancy detection sections at any given time, while also delivering on the stringent safety and cost-effective requirements of rail operators in Australia and New Zealand.
Colin Taylor, Siemens Business Development Manager – Signalling described the importance and benefits of this latest innovation in rail technology.
“The safety of rail transport depends on the safety of numerous individual components. For efficient rail services, trouble-free operation of the signalling and safety systems and equipment is essential,” Mr Taylor said.
“In addition to improved safety features, the ZP D 43 provides advantages over its predecessor, characterised by low life-cycle costs including a long service life and low fault liability. Spare parts are also readily available.
“Additionally, the technology is compatible with most common standard rail profiles and adaptable to a range of applications for use on railway lines.”
Mr Taylor said the advancements made in its electronic axle counting systems cemented Siemens position as world leader and a major contributor to the field of signalling and safety systems for railways in Australia and New Zealand.
“Siemens ZP 43 is already being used successfully on railway lines throughout Australia and New Zealand, but testament to Siemens pursuit of continual improvement and innovation within the mobility portfolio, the enhancements of the new ZP D 43 can provide additional benefits for rail operators and users.
“Depending on the variants, the ZP D 43 can be equipped for use with one single evaluation computer, two adjacent evaluation computers, and for two adjacent evaluation computers coupled with an external power supply,” Mr Taylor said.
“The technological advancements demonstrated by the ZP D 43 provide reliable and efficient track vacancy information.”
